Dr. George McKenna, DVM

Veterinarian Dr. McKenna graduated from Albion High School in 1977. He attended Canisius College for two years and then transferred to Cornell University where he received an Animal Science Bachelors Degree. In 1988 he graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.


Outside of the practice Dr. McKenna serves on the board of directors for the New York State Guernsey Association, and is an avid supporter of Orleans County 4-H. He is also a staunch supporter of FFA and a member of the Albion Alumni chapter.  He also serves on the Town of Barre Planning Board. Dr. McKenna and Iva attend Northgate Free Methodist Church, in Batavia. He is a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoys planning his well deserved vacations.


Dr. McKenna was raised in the home next door to the animal hospital along with his brother Gary and two sisters Sheila and Marcia. They all helped on the family farm, owned by his Dad (George Sr.) and his Mom (Margaret) (who also worked in the animal hospital for more than 20 years). He and his wife Iva have four daughters who are all now married to wonderful son-in-laws, Caton (Mike), Kerri (Robert), Betsey (Rocco) and Jenny (Ryker). In addition, they are now blessed with 4 grandchildren McKenna, Robert Jr, Samuel and Shane who Dr. McKenna loves spending time with. They also have two dogs, a number of barn cats, and many Guernsey cattle. His hobbies are sports, travel, and spending time with his family.
